Great Design, Poor Implementation, I ordered this cart directly from Cymax. It arrived quickly. Opening the box we found the shelves broken. There were also no instructions. I called the 1-800 customer service several times staying on hold 15+ minutes each time. I gave up that approach in frustration and sent an e-mail. My e-mail was answered in two days. Subsequent e-mail exchanges took 2-4 days for Cymax to respond. After 3 weeks I decided to repair the broken pieces myself and assemble the cart. It takes two people to assemble.
P.O.S., Cart recieved damaged - was left on my porch in a box that fell apart. Someone noted the damages on the side of the box, but delivered it anyway.
Did not get help from vendor, manufacturer or shipping company.
Parts were cracked and there was no assembly instructions in the package - again recieved no help from vendor or manufacturer. There are no instructions online either.
Don't let the assembly deter you, it's worth it!, This butcher block is nothing short of wonderful. It is both beautiful and functional; the outside leaves are a cinch to pull up, and designed well so that they stay up, stay completely steady, and are able to hold considerable weight. The drawer and small cabinet beneath have been extremely useful, as is the open space between the top and the cabinets. The hardware is surprisingly nice, and the little towel rack on the back is handy. It looks much more expensive than it is. Now, for the down-side. Yes, assembly is both confusing, frustrating, and difficult. It comes with a couple of pages that must be deciphered, but, if taken slowly, and patiently, can be figured out. It absolutely takes two people to assemble it, and even then it can feel like acrobatics at a few points. There was a time or two my fiancé and I truly believed that it was not going to fit together. Still, despite the 45 minutes or so of figuring the pictures out and a few circus moves, it was all more than worth it. (If I would have thought of it at the time, I would have put easy to follow directions online, and it may not be too late.) Once again, though, I will say that the short time of frustration was nothing against the pleasure and usefulness this product has provided. The legs and top are made of solid wood, and as I mentioned, the handles are a classy, elegant brushed metal. One word of caution as to assembly: when you hammer in the wheels, don't let the exhilaratiosteal of finally rounding that last assemblage curve steal your focus.
Useful and Nice Looking, This cart was quite easy to assemble, but it took two people to do it - one to hold things in place and the other to screw the parts together. The instructions were diagrammatic and required a little flipping back and forth between pages to make sure we were putting the right parts in the correct places, but if you're reasonably good at puzzles it will be a piece of cake. We are pleased with how solid the cart is. The wood is all solid - no crappy particle board, so we have high hopes that the cart will wear well over many years. The foot print is a nice size and the drop leaf feature allows us to have more surface area when we need it while cooking; then when we are done we just fold down the leaves so it will be more compact. It's also great to have the extra drawer space, and the cabinet underneath is nice and roomy. All in all this is a great buy for the price.
Nice cart no instructions, Nice cart with quality wood, casters, etc. Looks like it will hold up to heavy duty use. I purchased it to put a small charcoal grill on top. One problem, it did not ship with instructions nor are there online instructions.
